“I hope that you and your family are well, is there anything we can do for you?”

You can hear our staff asking that question on any given day of the 95 families that must stay with us during their child’s oncology treatment. But that question has an even greater significance during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It is important now more than ever to serve the many families unable to return home because their child’s treatment outweighs the uncertainty of being miles away during a pandemic and a Shelter In Place order.

Michelle and William shared their experience during the recent health concern:

“You guys have done an amazing job in providing us with food and other goodies during our stay. I know it’s hard and unprecedented, but you have done a tremendous job. Just know that the guests here appreciate everything you are all doing to take care of everyone. This is not what you signed up for- but you all have really stepped up to the challenge. We can’t thank you enough!"

Ronald McDonald House New York is working diligently to continue to fulfill our mission and meet the needs of each individual family under these challenging circumstances. At the direction of healthcare partners and leadership, we have taken important steps to limit access to the House by visitors and non-essential personnel. As we have seen elsewhere in the community, we must promote social distancing by closing communal spaces for families including our kitchens and dining room. To supplement the closure of these spaces within the House, our team will be delivering catered meals in to-go containers as well as wellness and kid-friendly care packages to each family’s room.

While our families understand and appreciate the policies we have put in place to maintain a safe and comforting environment, this does not lessen the burdens that they are dealing with. Social distancing, limiting group gatherings and closure of common spaces for families staying at Ronald McDonald House New York means separation and distances from the community and support they rely on.

Today, we are asking you, our community of supporters, to help us in fulfilling our mission to support families staying at Ronald McDonald House New York.  As a result, we would like to ask if you would consider making a donation at this time to help these brave families have access to 3 meals a day. We thank you for any financial support you are able to provide (and we are grateful for any that you may have already given) as we know this is a challenging time for all. And know that we are thinking of you and hope that you and your family are safe and healthy.

Please use the donate button to support our families.

Please help offset the financial impact of COVID-19, your support will make an important difference during the indefinite cancellation of all fundraising events until restrictions on gatherings of five or more persons have been lifted.
